YDA called off strike after talks with Kh Salman

Lahore: Young Doctors Association have withdrawn their call for strike and protest after successful negotiations with Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique and Secretary Health Babar Hayat Tarar . Director General Health Punjab Dr. Zahid Pervaiz, Principal Services Institute of Medical Sciences Prof. Hamid Mehmood Butt, representatives of YDA Dr. Hamid Butt, Dr. Javed Aheer, Dr. Aamir Bandesha besides a large number of doctors were present on the occasion.

Addressing the young doctors, Kh. Salman Rafique said that doctors are the real leadership of Health Department as they have to run the department and provide relief to the patients. He said that government has fulfilled the promises made with young doctors and doctors of other cadres and 90 percent points have been implemented so far.

Secretary Health Babar Hayat Tarar said that the doctors selected through Punjab Public Service Commission who had been absent from duty for the last several months, were dismissed as per law however they have the right to appeal. If such doctors appealed through application against termination of their services they will be reinstated, he added.

He said that PG trainee doctors completing their post graduation will be given an opportunity to complete their training and those doctors who have started their house job will be provided opportunity to complete their house job. A comprehensive policy will be evolved for house job in future under which graduates of medical colleges of public sector will be given preference, he added. He informed young doctors that process of promotion of medical officers and women medical officers to the post of Senior Registrar and Consultant is continuing which will soon be completed.

He said that one patient, one attendant policy will be adopted in government hospitals for the security of doctors and instructions have been issued to all government hospitals for implementation of the orders in this regard.

Kh. Salman Rafique assured Young Doctors Association that Health Department is working round the clock not only for the promotion of young doctors and senior doctors of other carders to next grades but solution of their other problems as well. After the assurance of Kh. Salman Rafique and Secretary Health, young doctors announced to withdraw their strike call.
