Motorcyclists in Pakistan are amongst the most careless in the world:DIG Mirza Shakil

Lahore( 10-3-2014): N 5 Central Zone has adopted strict enforcement on lane discipline, helmet and seat belt.Motorcyclists in Pakistan are amongst the most careless in the world, and they pay minimal or no attention to their own safety.

A vast majority of riders do not wear safety helmets. Motorcyclists are at risk of fatal head injuries, and wearing safety helmets is a must for them.
DIG Mirza Shakil Ahmad passed these remarks while chairing a meeting of Operational Officers at Zonal Office, Lahore. SSP Ghulam Jaffer , Sector Commander Abdul Khalil and beat commanders were also present on the occasion .

DIG Mirza Shakil Ahmad showed satisfaction on the lowering of accident ratio in the last six months on highways but ordered to give more attention on patrolling and all operational matters.  The DIG examined operational affairs of each beat in detail and passed suitable directions.

The DIG made it clear that fastening seat-belt while driving and wearing helmet while riding would be mandatory for all road users.He said that officers should stress on helping the road users in distress more instantly as facilitating others is one of the salient features of the department.
