Security agencies are supposed to maintain law & order in the courts: Chief Justice Lahore High Court

Chief Justice Omar Ata BandialLahore: Chief Justice of Lahore High Court, Justice Umar Ata Bandial has said that courts premises are a sanctuary of peace and tranquility for the aggrieved persons and lawyers. Security agencies are supposed to maintain law & order in the courts. Chief Justice was addressing to an emergent meeting of Pakistan Bar Council, Punjab Bar Council, Lahore High Court Bar Association and Lahore Bar Association held in Kiyani Hall, today.

Chief Justice said that criticism on the working of security agencies is right of the masses but we should not be violent and hold the law enforcing personnel in esteem so that their ego may not hurt. It is worth mentioning that it happened for the first time in the history of Lahore High Court that a sitting Chief Justice joined the Bar gathering to condemn the ugly incident. Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik and  Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan also accompanied the Hon’ble Chief Justice.

Chief Justice strongly condemned the terrorist attack at Islamabad Sessions Courts in which an Additional District & Sessions Judge and a dozen lawyers lost their lives. Chief Justice further observed that the legal fraternity was not alone in the said grief. “We had to face the entire circumstances unitedly and also appealed the lawyers to remain peaceful”,  Chief Justice maintained.
