Lahore: The popularity of Punjab Youth Festival 2014 is increasing day-by-day. So far, the grand event has covered various sectors including prisons and special people of the society and now it has extended its domain to Education and Art sectors.
Punjab Youth Festival has also organised a Grand Exhibition At Expo Centre under the aegis of Ministry of Science and Technology. Several Government, Private and Educational Institutions including National University of Science and Technology, Pakistan Engineering Council, PCTS, National University of Oceanography, Pakistan National Accreditation Council, CAMB, PSQCA and National Institute of Electronics Islamabad took part in the event.
Students of 47 Universities arranged 75 stalls in the exhibition. The hundreds of students from TEVTA institutions are also taking keen interest in the Exhibition. Their models of dams, bridges, important national buildings, roads and electronics won special praise from the audience. The Electronic Bicycle made by M Tauseef of Govt College of Technology, Sialkot also got appreciation from the large gathering. A special seminar and workshop was also organized in the Hall No 2 to enhance the technical abilities of the youth.
The jury will announce the winners on Saturday after examining the models and listening the briefing from the contestants.
On the other hand, a large Book Fair is also being organized on the same venue. A large number of Academic, Religious, Historic And Scientific Books by hundreds of publishers are on display in the fair. A digital Quran was also displayed on this occasion.
Meanwhile, “Best Agricultural Produce Exhibition ” is going on at Expo Centre. Department of Agricultural Information Punjab, Ayub Agricultural Faisalabad, Punjab Agricultural Department, Institute of Rice Research Kala Shah Kaku and many other research institutes are participating in this exhibition. Information is being disseminated among the participating farmers in order to protect their crops including wheat and cotton from various diseases. Moreover, the methods to preserve the fruits and vegetables for longer period are also being shared with them. Videos are shown to the visitors of the exhibition for their thorough guidance.
Speaking on the occasion, Agricultural experts said that Pakistan’s economy largely depends on agriculture. Different research institutions including Agriculture Department Punjab are endeavouring to enhance the production by using latest technology. “Farmers could not get more production as they are unaware of modern technology that is why they are not earning reasonable profit from their products”, they added.
