We celebrate the Urs of saints but do not follow their teachings

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs Mian Atta Muhammad Maneka has said that the saints provided guidance to the people through their teachings. He said that a welfare society can be constituted by following the teachings of the saints. He said that Auqaf Department is pursuing a coordinated policy in this regard.

He said this while addressing “Syed Hajvar Tassawaf Conference” as a chief guest held in connection with 970^th Urs of Hazrat Data Gunj Bakhsh under the aegis of Auqaf Department & Religious Affairs at Alhamra Hall today. Secretary Auqaf & Religious Affairs Muhammad Saqib Aziz, DG Auqaf & Religious Affairs Muhammad Hassan Rizvi, Mufti Intikhab Noori, Alhaaj Haider Ali Mirza, Dr. Zahoor Ahmed Azhar, Dr. Qamar Ali Zaidi, Dr. Mazhar Hussain, Dr. Muhammad Sultan Shah, Mufti Muhammad Ramzan Sialvi and a large number of Ulema and mushaikh attended the conference.

Addressing the conference, speakers threw light on the teachings of Hazrat Data Gunj Bakhsh Ali Hajvari and said that the saints spread the message of Islam and teachings of Holy Prophet (PBUH) in subcontinent. They said that we are facing conspiracies of enemies due to forgetting the teachings of the saints. They said that the saints promoted religious tolerance and co-existence in the society. They stressed the need for following the teachings of saints so that non-Muslims could be aware of the peaceful religion Islam.

Addressing on the occasion, Atta Muhammad Maneka said that Punjab government greatly valued the efforts of Ulema for promoting Ittehad Bainul Muslimeen, maintaining sectarian harmony, eliminating hatred, terrorism and extremism. He said that the saints paved the way for setting up an exemplary society in the light of Islamic teachings in subcontinent and we can make Pakistan a haven of peace by following their teachings. He said that Islam gives the lesson of peace, tolerance, brotherhood. He said that it is national and religious obligation of Ulema and Mushaikh to promote religious harmony and tolerance.

Provincial Minister said that we celebrate the Urs of saints but do not follow their teachings, that is why, the enemy is hatching conspiracies to create rift in our ranks. He said that the country is facing terrorism and extremism and cooperation of Ulema will be helpful in foiling the nefarious designs of enemy.
