“Pensioner’s Day” will be celebrated on December 16

Lahore: “Pensioner’s Day” will be celebrated in all offices of Ombudsman Punjab on Monday, December 16 while Ombudsman Punjab Javed Mahmood has decided to personally supervise all the activities of the day.

Wazir Ahmad Qureshi, Incharge “Mohtasib Punjab Pension Cell”, will organize Khuli Kucheri on “Pensioner’s Day” at Lahore likewise Member Incharge concerned of Regional Offices of Ombudsman Punjab at Multan, Sargodha and Rawalpindi will hold khuli kucheri and welcome pensioners and retired employees of Punjab Government on 16th. 

Ombudsman Punjab Javed Mahmood while declaring 15th of every month as “Pensioner’s Day” in all offices of Ombudsman in Punjab has clearly has issued notification and mentioned that in case of holiday on 15th, “Pensioner’s Day” will be celebrated on the next working day. Copies of the notification have been sent to Additional Chief Secretary as Chairman Punjab Pension Cases Disposal Committee and all administrative secretaries as Pension Sanctioning Authorities for information and support.

Accountant General Punjab has been directed to ensure proper circulation of the notification to District Accounts Offices of the province while Divisional Commissioners, District Coordination Officers of the province, Secretary Fund Punjab, Zonal Incahge and Deputy Manager Group Insurance, State Life Corporation of Pakistan have also been directed to cooperate in solving the long standing pensionary issues of the retired employees.

Decision to celebrate “Pensioner’s Day” on every 15th is infact, just to give respect, honour and relief to the retired employees who dedicated their youth age and valuable period to serve the nation and country. “The pensioners are not merely retired civil servants but also senior citizens of the country and I have only done my duty by dedicating a day to resolve their issues”, says Ombudsman Punjab. He said that concerned government functionaries will also be summoned on “Pensioner’s Day” just to resolve the pension related issues of the said complainant on spot in khuli kucheri.

“Mohtsib Punjab Pension Cell” has done a lot to safeguard the monetary rights of the pensioners and relief in more than 80 such pension cases have been given to the retired employees in which concerned department and accounts offices failed to conclude yet. Likewise, in a cornice case, a widow was awarded with her pensionary benefits after a long period of 39 years. Ombudsman Punjab has asked retired employees and their family members to visit Ombudsman Offices on 15th of every month i.e.

on “Pensioner’s Day” if they are victim of delayed pension case, GP Fund Payment, Group Insurance, Benevolent Fund or any pensionary benefit. He has also directed Pension Sanctioning Authorities to extend cooperation to “Mohtasib Punjab Pension Cell” for speedy redressal of grievances of the pensioners.

Ombudsman Punjab has also warned the Pension Sanctioning Authorities to refrain from flouting the Presidential Orders for awarding pension on time, Judgments of Supreme Court on the same issue and Pension Rules of the Punjab Government.
