Tolerance is impossible without active role of ulema

Hamza Shahbaz (5)Lahore: Hamza Shahbaz Sharif MNA has said that without active role of ulema, promotion of religious harmony, accommodation and tolerance is impossible. After Rawalpindi tragedy, ulema and religious leaders of all schools of thought have played commendable and positive role in the elimination of sectarian violence and controlling the situation, he added. He stressed upon ulema not to forget playing their role in maintaining sectarian harmony and making the country a haven of peace and it is very unfortunate that the innocent people are being killed in the name of religion and sects in the country which was established in the name of Allah and the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

He said this while talking to a representative delegation of ulema belonging to Sargodha Division at Central Secretariat PML-N Model Town. MNA from Sargodha Hamid Hameed was also present on the occasion. Hamza Shahbaz Sharif said that the elements involved in Rawalpindi incident would soon be arrested and brought to condign justice. He said that not only the ulema but it is the religious and moral duty of every segment of the society to advise their children and other people to refrain from adopting the attitudes of religious extremism and sectarianism. He said that although the situation has improved due to the commendable role of ulema yet the coming days demand to remain fully alert from mischievous elements.

Hamza Shahbaz Sharif said that ulema can play a key role in the promotion of peace and brotherhood by activating peace committees. He said that the nation has took a sigh of relief due to the steps taken by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for controlling the situation after Rawalpindi incident. He said that due to the sincere efforts of PML-N leadership, the country would be put on the road to progress and prosperity. He also paid tributes to the ulema of all sects for making efforts for controlling the situation in Sargodha. Hamza Shahbaz said that Sargodha is his second home as the people of Sargodha had given a thumping majority to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He said that Sargodha will be made a role model and exemplary district with regard to development.

Earlier, ulema gave their proposals for promoting religious harmony and stressed the need for activating peace committees. Hamza Shahbaz assured ulema that the senior leadership of the party will be taken into confidence for implementing their proposals and accepting their demands. The delegation included Mufti Tahir Masood, Mufti Shahid Masood, Qari Abdul Waheed, Qari Ahmed Ali Nadeem, Qari Waqar Ahmed, Maulana Javed Qadri, Maulana Abdullah Saeed Hashmi, Mian Muhammad Ilyas, Mian Munir Ahmed and Mian Anwar Khursheed.
