German energy experts call on CM Punjab

Lahore: A delegation of the prominent German company in energy sector, Energiequelle Gmbh met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif here today. Chairman Planning & Development, Additional Chief Secretary Energy, Secretary Agriculture, authorities concerned as well as leader of the delegation of the German company Helmut Fugemann, Michael Heyn, Stefan Rieck and other officials were also present. The meeting decided to promote cooperation in energy sector while the German company expressed interest in setting up a 100 megawatt solar plant in Punjab.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that sincere efforts are being made for overcoming energy crisis in the country and Muslim League-N government is determined to resolve this problem. He said that special incentives are being offered to foreign investors in energy sector. He welcomed the interest shown by the German company in setting up solar plant in Punjab. He said that Punjab government has planned to set up Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park over eleven thousand acres in Bahawalpur and work is being carried out expeditiously for the provision of infrastructure and other facilities. He asked the German company to consider setting up of solar plant at Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park as well.

The Chief Minister further said that there is a vast scope of generation of power from biogas and biomass in Punjab and Punjab government would welcome cooperation by the German company in projects of generation of electricity from biogas and biomass. The head of the German delegation Helmut Fugemann said that his company wants to promote cooperation with Punjab government in energy sector and speedy measures would be taken in this regard
