Lahore: Provincial Minister for Environment, Col (Retd) Shuja Khanzada has said that the Chief Minister has ordered inquiry into the tragic incident of firing on Imam Bargahs and loss of precious lives in Gujranwala. He said that deterrent punishment would be awarded to those involved in this incident. He said that Chief Minister Punjab, Provincial Cabinet and said that all parliamentarians have strongly condemned this incident and equally share the grief of Shia brethren.
He was addressing a meeting at Commissioner Office, Gujranwala, today. Coordinator Provincial Peace Committee Haider Ali Mirza, Commissioner Shumail Ahmed Khawaja, RPO Saad Akhtar Bharwana, ADC Saleh Saeed, Additional Commissioner Khalid Nazir, MPAs Ch. Muhammad Iqbal, Imran Khalid Butt, Taufeeq Butt, Ashraf Ansari and Nawaz Chohan, accompanied the Minister.
Shuja Khanzada said that police and law enforcement agencies have been further activated and on the orders of Chief Minister Punjab, security of mosques, Imambargahs and worship places of non-Muslims has been intensified throughout the province. He said that after incident of Gujranwala, reservations have increased and a comprehensive strategy has been evolved to overcome it. He said that enemy wants to create anarchy and chaos in our country and stressed the need for unity at every level for foiling its nefarious designs. Provincial Minister said that those involved in disruption will soon be taken to task.
Shuja Khanzada said that police has been ordered to immediately arrest the culprits involved in Gujranwala incident. He appealed to the people to remain peaceful and promote unity in their ranks. He said that we are all Pakistanis and will have to sacrifice our personal interests over collective interest by promoting religious harmony for the solidarity of the country.
Provincial Minister said that Shia and Suni respect each other which promotes peaceful atmosphere. Haider Ali Mirza, Commissioner Gujranwala Shumail Ahmed Khawaja, RPO Saad Akhtar Bharwana and Assembly Members also addressed the meeting. Assembly members said that Shias are our brothers and we will take them along for the promotion of peace.
