Ombudsman Punjab summons DPO Kasur

Lahore: Ombudsman Punjab Javed Mahmood has taken serious notice of an incident of firing and decoity with the students of Punjab University and a lady journalist at Phool Nagar and ordered DPO Kasur to look into the issue personally and submit a report within three days.

In a written notice to District Police Officer Kasur, issued by Advisor (Implementation), Ombudsman Punjab has inquired DPO Kasur about the steps taken for controlling the crime situation in the area of Phool Nagar. It is all the more necessary since crimes towards person and property as also in narcotics business are on an alarming extent in the area and Office of Ombudsman likes to know as to what corrective measures have been taken by DPO Kasur in this regard?, says the notice.

Ombudsman Punjab has taken notice on the incident in which docoits opened fire on vehicle of the students of Punjab University and lady journalist at Phool Nagar while coming back to Lahore after the shooting of a documentary film. The decoits had snatched cash, mobile phones, laptop and shooting camera and tortured lady journalist Qurat ul Aeen badly.
