Upholding oath is the constitutional obligation of Assembly Members: Shahbaz Sharif

Lahore: Nominated Chief Minister Punjab, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that upholding oath is the constitutional, legal and religious obligation of Assembly Members. He was talking to media in Lahore and Islamabad after oath taking ceremony at Punjab Assembly today. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that no government alone can overcome the problems being faced by Pakistan.

Therefore, we will have to make joint efforts and rising above the political and personal interests. He said that PML-N will start its development journey in Punjab from where its previous government had left. However, overcoming load-shedding will be our top priority for which we will have to make sacrifices in other walks of life. Shahbaz Sharif said that PML-N will substantially curtail non-developmental expenditure to provide resources for generating energy.

He said that culture of simplicity will be promoted in the province and Chief Minister as well as a common-man will have to follow it compulsorily. He said that the role of opposition will also be important in the assembly. He said that people are conscious and will judge the performance of both government and the opposition.

Nominated Chief Minister said that those assembly members who have not been in contact continuously with the people of their constituency will have to change their attitude. He said that we have decided to resolve all public problems including load-shedding on war-footing. He expressed the hope that assembly members of PML-N will play the vanguard role in this crusade.

Replying to a question, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that people of other provinces are appreciating all mega projects of Punjab including metro bus and wherever, he went the people of those provinces expressed their desire of launching those projects for them. He said that the next government of PML-N Punjab is ready to provide all possible cooperation to other provincial governments for these projects. He said that we will feel pleasure if all provinces of the country initiate such development programmes for the facility and prosperity of the people and implement these projects on merit and with transparency.
