Inter-religion harmony is need of the hour:Justice (Retd.) Jamshed Rehmatullah

Minority MinisterLahore: Provincial Minister for Minorities Affairs and Human Rights, Justice (Retd.) Jamshed Rehmatullah has said that inter-religion harmony is need of the hour and all the religions can jointly defeat the menace of lawlessness and terrorism for holding peaceful elections. He said that churches should play their due role in this regard.

He expressed these views while addressing a ceremony as chief guest held at a church in Rawalpindi today. Bishop Punjab Lahore Arif Sairaj Moderator, Bishop Mall Road Church Bishop Semoel Titis, Director Mission Hospital Taxila Dr. Ashak Naz and leaders of Christian Community from all over the province were present on the occasion. Jamshed Rehmatullah said that Christian brethren had given their vote in favor of Pakistan in the commission constituted at the time of creation of Pakistan and desired to live in the areas of Muslims in Pakistan. After the establishment of Pakistan, Christian community is rendering its services in all the sectors including health, education, Pak-Army and judiciary and playing its active role in the progress and prosperity of Pakistan. He said that now time has come that Christian community should utilize all its energies for the strengthening of Pakistan. He said that Ulema from Punjab has met him and assured their full cooperation for inter-religion harmony and said that it is their duty to foil the nefarious designs of the unscrupulous elements for peaceful conduct of elections.

Bishop Mall Road Church Semoul Titis highlighted the services of the church in the promotion of inter-religion harmony while Bishop Father Arif Sairaj Moderator led special prayers for checking lawlessness from the country and promotion of brotherhood.
