Shahbaz Sharif ignites PML-N media cell

Muhammad Shahbaz SharifLahore: Former Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif said Friday that transparency with which development projects were carried out by the PML-N’s government in Punjab would also be visible in the party’s media policy.

“PML-N is the first political party that has invited the media to come and report on its process of awarding tickets to candidates,” Shahbaz said in his address to office-bearers of the PML-N Media Cell.
He advised the party workers to practice accuracy and fairness while forwarding the PML-N’s message to people. He said the PML-N’s popularity was aboveboard and unlike its opponents, it did not have to make fake promises to win the public’s support.

“Overall, the role of journalists for peace and fair elections has been positive. However, some pen mercenaries are targeting the country’s most popular party through mudslinging and their baseless propaganda,” the former CM said. “The campaign to defame the Sharifs is being fuelled and funded by the secret fund doled out by the Information Ministry of the PPP government. The Supreme Court has also taken notice of this fund.”

Shahbaz credited the PML-N’s Punjab government for not spending even a penny from the secret fund of CM Secretariat and depositing the same in the national exchequer. He said that a huge number of youngsters are volunteering to work for the PML-N on social media. This, he added, spoke the volume of Nawaz Sharif’s popularity in the country.

The former CM asked the PML-N Media Cell to show restrain while reacting to a smear campaign after he was told that a newborn political party had exceeded the bonds of morality while projecting its point of view on the Internet.
