Imran Khan demands immediate care taker set up in Punjab

Imran Khan is submitting his papers for party electionsImran Khan talking to mediaLahore: Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on Wednesday called for immediate dissolution of Punjab Assembly like other assemblies of the country and said it was a must to install the caretaker setup so that the process for holding of free and fair elections could be taken forward.

Talking to media after submitting his nomination papers here for the intra-party election of the PTI, Imran Khan said that all provincial and federal government had completed their five-year tenure and now all the governments should step down as per the constitutional provisions.

The PTI chief said that a caretaker setup should be installed at the earliest so that impartial elections could be held in the country. “The ruling parties want to remain cling to the power just for misusing the taxpayers’ money and to get maximum political benefits to manipulate conditions for the upcoming polls,” said the PTI chairman, adding that the holding of impartial elections was a must as these polls would change the fate of the nation.

He warned that anarchy would be spread across country if Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) failed to hold free and fair elections.

Imran Khan also demanded that all the tax evaders and fake degree holders should not be allowed to reach the parliament again. He said that the holding of intra party elections by PTI was a great success and it would strengthen the democratic process in the country, adding that intra-party elections would be a barrier in turning any party into a family enterprise.

“In order to bring forward a true leadership of the people, the PTI has made it mandatory that no party leader could hold the office of the chairman more than two terms. “The PTI has set an example in the whole subcontinent by holding true party elections,” he said, adding that he had achieved this goal after a struggle of 17 long years. He also lauded the zeal and fervor of the party workers, stating that the PTI had been turned into an institution and he would not allow anyone to convert it into a family party.
