Police has failed to provide protection to Christians:Pervaiz Rasheed

Lahore: Spokesman of Punjab government, Senator Pervaiz Rasheed has said that it is the duty of the police to provide protection to the citizens without any discrimination. He said that the local police station will be asked about the tragic incident of Badami Bagh and the affected persons will be provided complete protection. He said that the affectees are our brethren and providing all possible help to them is our responsibility.

Senator Pervaiz Rasheed said that Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has ordered investigation of this incident. He strongly condemned the incident and assured that strict action will be taken as per law against the persons responsible. He said that no one would be allowed to take such action under the garb of slogans and evacuate any one from homes. Senator Pervaiz Rashid assured that the life and property of the affected people will be protected and Punjab government will compensate their loss. He said that we will go there and sit with our own people.

Law Minister, Rana Sanaullah said that the incident of Badami Bagh is lamentable and the person, who committed arrogance, had been arrested. He said that cases will be registered against those who put the houses on fire and they will not be spared. He said that Punjab government accepts the responsibility of attack on Christian community and no human loss was occurred in this incident. He said that Punjab government will assess the losses within five to seven days and practical action will be started. Law Minister made it clear that when the accused had been arrested, there was no reason of provocation. Rana Sanaullah said that the inquiry of this incident would be conducted on merit and no innocent people will be included in it. He said that Punjab government carries out work of months in the weeks and promise is fulfilled.

Member National Assembly, Pervaiz Malik, talking to the people on the occasion, said that he has come here on the directive of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and held dialogues with the people and assured them for registering a case against the young man. He said that mischievous elements were involved in this incident. He said that Punjab police demonstrated best performance and about 18 police officials and one officer were also injured. Pervaiz Malik asked the people to remain peaceful.
