USDA delegation visits UVAS

_DSC8528_DSC8605Lahore: A three-member delegation from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) visited the University of Veterinary and Animal Science (UVAS) and held a meeting with Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha.
The delegation comprising USDA advisor Ian Winborne, senior agriculture specialist Asmat Raza and veterinary specialist Mrs Mubshara, accompanied by Animal Husbandry Commissioner Dr Kursheed Ahmad and FAO representative Dr Muhammad Afzal discussed the prospects of collaboration between the UVAS and USDA for improving livestock and exploiting the animal potential at the maximum level.
Ian Winborne said that the US government would provide all-out technical support to farmers’ community to uplift the rural economy. He said that the USDA also offered capacity building training to the professionals how to handle model modern dairy farming practices.
He appreciated the university’s dynamic role in boosting the livestock sector in the country. The delegation also visited the Ravi Campus at Pattoki and took a round of the livestock-related facilities.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha briefed the delegation on the university research programmes, especially in dairy sector. He said that “dairy is the most attractive sector for investment because of its value-added products. At the end delegation thanked UVAS Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha for cordial and warm welcome extended to them during their visit to the university.
