Rescue 1122 pays compensation to the family of deceased employee

Lahore: On the orders of Ombudsman Punjab, a sum of four lakh rupees has been paid to the heirs of a Rescue 1122 employee who died on the first day of joining.

According to details, a resident of Sheikhupura Mushtaq Ahmed submitted an application to Ombudsman Punjab that his son Adil Mushtaq died during training on the first day of employment in Rescue 1122 but the administration of Rescue 1122 is not ready to accept him as the regular employee of the department and had refused to pay the dues. Ombudsman Punjab directed Consultant Ombudsman Office Wazir Ahmad Qureshi to probe the matter.

The officers of Rescue 1122 took the stance before Wazir Ahmad Qureshi that any employee of Rescue 1122 is considered the regular employee only after successful completion of training and is paid his dues. Wazir Ahmad Qureshi ordered Rescue 1122 to give salary of one day to the deceased Adil Mushtaq for the day of his training. After the payment of one day salary by the Rescue 1122, Wazir Ahmad Qureshi gave the decision as Rescue 1122 had accepted that deceased employee was a regular government servant by payment of one day’s salary, therefore, the heirs of the deceased have the right of financial assistance as is admissible to the government servants and trainee officials will also be considered as government servants. In the light of decision of Wazir Ahmad Qureshi, Ombudsman Punjab ordered immediate payment of four lakh rupees to the heirs of deceased Adil Mushtaq and his father Mushtaq Ahmed was given the cheque for the said amount.
