There was no negligence in a baby girl death:Spokesman

Lahore: The spokesman of Social Welfare and Baitul Maal Department Punjab has contradicted the news item appearing in a section of the press regarding the death of a baby girl allegedly due to negligence of darul amaan management.

Clarifying the factual position, the spokesman said that the girl child and her mother had been sent to Darul Amaan under court orders where the child suddenly fell ill and was sent by the management of Darul Amaan to the nearest hospital where the doctor on duty confirmed her death due to premature birth. Upon returning to Darul Amaan, the mother of the deceased baby called SHO of the concerned police station in the presence of the incharge and staff of Darul Amaan and gave different statements.

After considering the situation, the SHO and incharge of Darul Amaan decided to bring the matter into the notice of judicial magistrate who allowed the woman to leave Darul Amaan along with the dead body of the deceased child. Until that time the woman had leveled no allegation against Darul Amaan management while incharge of the institution had also brought the matter into the notice of the concerned District Social Welfare Officer. The spokesman also rejected the allegation that the woman was not given a blanket by the incharge Darul Amaan and said that like other women and children staying at Darul Amaan, the woman had also been extended necessary facilities.
