Court orders FIR against police officials for beating lawyer

Islamabad: A local court has ordered Islamabad police to register criminal case against officials of Motorway Police for harassing, beating and unlawfully confining a lawyer.

According to the details, Additional Sessions Judge Islamabad Sikandar Khan has directed the SHO Police Station Margalla to register case under criminal provisions of law against Inspector Shahzad and Inspector Khizer of the Motorway Police.

The police officials were accused of threatening, beating, pointing automatic guns and kidnapping by the petitioner Mian Faisal Advocate.

According to his petition, the Motorway Police blocks Kaghan Road, during movement of the IG Motorway Police where his office is located.

He said that blocking road in the name of protocol is illegal and violation of the human rights.He added that on November 20th he objected to erecting barricades on which Motorway Police tortured him. He said that terrorism and harassment cannot be allowed in the name of protocol and security and Motorway Police has no authority to block road daily.

The court after hearing the complaint ordered registration of FIR against the accused.
