CM Punjab sings and play cricket with girls at Kinnaird College

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that if leadership is visionary and infused with the spirit of public service, such programmes like laptops, Aashiyana, Daanish School, self-employment scheme, internship programme, green tractor and yellow cab scheme are launched for the benefit of the masses. He said that young generation is the future of the country and destiny of the nation can be changed by equipping the youth with the modern education. He said that Punjab government has promoted merit and transparency in the province and he is ready to face accountability if the corruption of even a single penny proved against him.

He was addressing the laptops distribution function to the students at Kinnaird College, here today. Special Assistant to CM on Higher Education Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Advisor Begum Zakiya Shahnawaz , Secretary Higher Education, teachers and a large number of girl students attended the function. A contingent of Punjab police presented guard of honour to the recipients of laptops.

Addressing the function, the Chief Minister said that present government has taken promotion of education as its top priority since coming into power and revolutionary measures have been taken for the development of education sector. He said that Punjab Educational Endowment Fund was set up for the first time in the history of the country four years ago and now a sum of Rs.one billion is being spent annually from this fund on the education of such boy and girl students whose parents could not afford their educational expenses due to financial constraints. He said that now the amount of this fund has reached the figure of Rs.10 billion.

He said that Kinnaird College, Home Economic College, Punjab University and other such educational institutions can meet the needs of quality education of only a small segment of the society, therefore Daanish school system programme has been launched so that maximum people could acquire quality education. He said that those leveling the allegation that laptop scheme is aimed at getting votes or political support should know that this project had been started by rising above the considerations of colour, cast and religion, and laptops are being given only on merit.

The Chief Minister said that the dictator Musharraf toppled democracy, hampered the process of national development sent PML-N leadership into exile and stopped it from coming to Pakistan. He said that there is no ban on the return of Musharraf to Pakistan but he is not returning to the country. He said that it is nemesis. He said that President Asif Ali Zardari has gone abroad to inquire after Malalah Yousafzai but she is under treatment in Bermigmim hospital while Malalah conference held in Paris. He said that Zardari has gone not to inquire about the welfare of Malalah, but gone to France in connection with the commission of cases of Augusta submarines purchased in the last tenure. He said that there is no doubt that Zardari received large kickbacks in the deal for submarine in 1994 and cases have also been registered against former French President Sarkozy in this regard. He said that it would be better if Zardari brings back the looted money of the nation, and deposit it in the exchequer.

Later the Chief Minister distributed laptops among talented students. He said that Kinnaird College is playing an important role in the promotion of education and 1100 students have got laptops for which they should be congratulated. The Chief Minister also announced internship for five students of Kinnaird College at Chief Minister’s Secretariat. He also invited girl students to visit Daanish school and Aashiyana housing scheme.

Shahbaz Sharif was quit happy while talking to the girls students and did kids like activities.He sung a song for the girls,bowled the female cricketers and did batting too.One could not imagine this was the famous CM who dealt the bureaucracy in a hard way.

Renowned singer of the country Faakhir Mehmood, especially participated in laptops distribution ceremony held at Kinnaird College and paid rich tributes to Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on taking steps for equipping the young generation with the latest technology.
