MBP is to provide facilities to the people:Shahbaz Sharif

Lahor:Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the objective of metro bus project and Kalma Chowk underpass is to provide maximum facilities to the people. He directed that the citizens should not be bothered due to development programmes and, especially, there should be no hindrance in the flow of traffic.
Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif directed making best arrangements to ensure continuous flow of traffic during construction of metro bus project and extension of Kalma Chowk. He said that an awareness campaign should be launched in an effective manner to apprise the citizens about alternative traffic arrangements.

While presiding over a meeting regarding improvement of traffic management with reference to metro bus project and Kalma Chowk underpass, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that traffic should not be stopped during the construction work on these public-welfare projects.

Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif directed making alternative traffic arrangements, in an organized manner, besides deputing maximum number of traffic personnel, on both routes, for the convenience of the citizens. He directed CTO that traffic should not be stopped at any place due to construction work, and traffic police personnel should work wholeheartedly to provide facilities to the people.
Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif directed installation of flex boards, at prominent places, depicting safety measures. He said effective safety measures should be taken, around Kalma Chowk underpass, to ward of possibility of any untoward incident. He said traffic police officers should monitor the performance of traffic wardens and cameras be installed to check the performance of traffic police deputed at the routes.
He directed sprinkling of water, around the route, along with ensuring sanitation, to combat the problems of dust and pollution. He announced that free masks would be given by the Punjab government to the motorcyclists and cyclists to save them from dust and pollution, at the construction routes. He directed Members Assembly to daily visit the routes, as the elected representative can better guide the masses. He said after visiting these routes, the Members Assembly should submit their suggestions to further improve the traffic system.
The Chief Minister was given detailed briefing on the traffic arrangements made at metro bus project and Kalma Chowk underpass. The meeting was attended by Members Assembly Mehr Ishtiaq Ahmed, Hafiz Mian Muhammad Nauman, Dr. Saeed Elahi, IG Police Punjab, Project Director BRT, Secretary Transport, Additional IG Traffic, Commissioner Lahore Division, DCO Lahore, DG LDA besides concerned officials.
