Lahore: The Foreign Minister of Pakistan,on 9 November 2012 as Special Envoy of President Zardari. During the visit, she called on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and extended an invitation to her to participate in the D-8 Summit being held in Islamabad on 22 November 2012.
Foreign Minister said that Pakistan greatly values its relations with Bangladesh. The relations between the two brotherly countries are based on common religion, history and traditions. She also noted that Pakistan and Bangladesh have been coordinating their positions on issues of significance at the United Nations. Both have also been closely interacting with each other at the OIC and SAARC.
The Foreign Minister also underlined the need to translate the goodwill existing between the two countries into substantive economic, commercial, educational and cultural linkages.
Earlier, Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar met the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Dr. Dipu Moni. She also called on the Leader of the Opposition and Chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, Begum Khaleda Zia.
