Lahore: Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Mashhood Ahmad has said that 30 lakh players have participated in Punjab Youth Festival so far and participation of such a large number of youth in the festival is reshaping of sports history. He said that the team of Guinness Book of World Records has arrived in Pakistan first time in the history to review the mega sports event. Despite terrorism, unemployment and load-shedding, Punjab Youth Festival has raised the image of Pakistan throughout the world, he added. He said that several countries are making efforts for breaking the record of our players but we are confident that this record will not be broken for a long time. He said that today we have become a part of Guinness Book which is our partner. All sports activities of the festival will be shown the world over and our players will earn a good name at international level, he added.
He expressed these views while talking to media after the inauguration of family fun race held at Gulshan-e-Ravi under the aegis of Punjab Youth Festival. A large number of families participated in the family fun race which started from Bund Road and concluded at Moon Market Gulshan-e-Ravi ground. At the end of family fun race, refreshments were served while a musical show was also arranged for the participants of the race. On this occasion, folk singers Mohsin Shoukat, Mumtaz Ali Khan, Hasnain Ali and Sajid Ali Khan entertained the youth with their songs. Rana Mashhood gave Rs. 10 thousand to Shakeel who secured first position in family fun race, five thousand rupees to Shahid who won the second position and three thousand rupees each to the players standing third and fourth. Strict security measures were adopted for the participants of the race besides provision of water and juices at many places.
