Muhammad Shakeel won the 2.5 kilometres Fun Race

Lahore: The Punjab Youth Festival 2012 activities at different towns of the city are continuing but the most attractive was the fun race conducted at Gulshan-i-Ravi.

Mohammad Shakeel of Union Council 84 won the 2.5 kilometres Fun Race held as part of the Tehsil level of the festival at the Samanabad on Wednesday. He was awarded Rs 10,000 and track suit for his win run. Shahid Chaudhary of Union Council 88 got to the second position and his council mate Mohammad Farooq and Abdur Rehman ran to third position jointly. Shahid was given Rs 5000 while the third position winners were awarded Rs 3000 each and the track suits.

Apart from different sporting and general events, the activity of prominence remained the fun race conducted by Samanabad Town where chief organiser of the Punjab Youth Festival 2012 Deputy Speaker Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan was the chief guest, who also took part in the race along with Mian Marghoob Ahmed MPA while Director General Sports Board and Youth Affairs Usman Anwar was also present on the occasion of the flag off of the race.

The race started from Bund Road Gulshan-i-Ravi and terminated at Moon Market amidst tight security. People of different walks of life and ages took part in the race, who were later at the end of the race were entertained by a music concert. The youngsters of the area danced and sand with the tune of the music and beat of the drum.
