Lahore: A high-level was held at the Central Police Office to finalise a strategy to ensure proper monitoring of the law and order situation in the Punjab province particularly in Lahore for the Chief Minister. Advisor to CM Jehanzaib Barki presided over the meeting.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman gave a detailed briefing about the strategy while MNA Pervaiz Malik, MPA Hafiz Nauman, Additional Secretary (Police) Home Department Asif Bilal Lodhi, Chairman PITB Umar Saif, Secretary Prosecution, Maroof Afzal were also present on this occasion besides other senior officers.
During the meeting, various proposals were discussed to finalise a strategy to prepare a comprehensive briefing for Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and it was decided that the briefing should be held on fortnightly basis rather than weekly basis.
It was also emphasised that a coordination committee should be constituted while a focal person be also appointed to maintain liaison among the public representatives, police, and prosecution. The expansion forensic lab for evidence collection at district or division level, comparative analysis of crime incidents of last six months, sensational murder, kidnapping for ransom, dacoity, robbery, robbery-cum-murder, street crimes, car snatching, motorcycle-theft, jewellery shops and bank dacoities and data of online prosecution on the pattern of online FIR were also discussed in detail.
The provincial police chief assured full cooperation to all the participants and said that these proposals would be implemented after getting approval of the Chief Minister Punjab.
