AQ Khan statement was contrary to facts: Pervaiz Rasheed

Lahore: Thehas termed the talk of Dr. Qadeer about Nawaz Sharif, regarding atomic explosions by Pakistan, contrary to the facts. Commenting upon the recent interview of Dr. Qadeer, he said that so-called disclosure by Dr. Qadeer after 14 years about nuclear tests are ludicrous. Pervaiz Rashid said that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was in Kazakhstan in connection with ECO Summit Conference at the time of atomic explosions by India on May 11. He said that Syed Mushahid Hussain (now Secretary General of PML-Q) has also repeatedly said that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, in response to India, had decided there for conducting atomic explosions. On his return to Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif met Pakistani scientists including Dr. Qadeer in this regard. Terming the claim of Dr.Qadeer that Pakistan could conduct atomic explosions within half-an-hour as ridiculous, Pervaiz Rashid said that Dr.Qadeer Khan has ridiculed himself by talking of constructing a tunnel in Chaghi mountains, shifting sensitive scientific equipments and installing there by hiding such activities from satellite and making foolproof arrangements for carrying out atomic explosions within half-an-hour. Pervaiz Rashid said that atomic explosion was not a child’s play but as a result of which Pakistan had to face worst international pressure and economic sanctions. Therefore, for this purpose, wide range consultation, forming international opinion in our favour and taking friendly countries into confidence, was utmost essential for which the period of more than two weeks was not enough, he added. Pervaiz Rashid said that General Zaini and General Tommy Franks have admitted in their books that Nawaz Sharif was not ready to accept any pressure in this regard. There are dozens of interviews and speeches of Dr. Qadeer in which he himself paid rich tributes to Nawaz Sharif regarding atomic explosions, termed him a great leader of Islamic World and had also disclosed the offer of millions of dollars by President Clinton for personal accounts of Mian brothers for not conducting atomic explosions. Regarding political strategy of PML-N after 18th February elections, Senator Pervaiz Rashid said that Dr.Qadeer is not understanding that Nawaz Sharif and Muslim League-N is not doing the politics of power but of values, otherwise, it was not difficult to get Chairmanship of Senate or Speakership of National Assembly by compromising with Zardari but Muslim League had not hesitated to reject 13 important federal ministries on the violation of Bhurban agreement. He said that long march for restoration of judges, elimination of discretionary powers of President through 18th Amendment, restoration of real parliamentary system, refusal of giving constitutional cover to the unconstitutional steps of dictator Musharaf, resistance of NRO inside and outside the House, independent Election Commission, impartial caretaker setup at federal and provincial level through 20th Amendment is such a historical role of PML-N to which a sensitive person cannot deny. He said that there are number of corruption cases in Supreme Court in which Muslim League-N became a party.
