Lahore: We have brought message of love and brotherhood from Australian people. These views were expressed by Australian Senators during their visit to Lahore. A five member delegation of Australian Senate led by David Johnston laid floral wreath at the Mizar-e-Iqbal. Head of the delegation David Johnston said that Allama Iqbal is a poet of the entire world. Members of the delegation also visited Badshahi Mosque where Khateeb of the mosque Moulana Abdul Khabeer Azad welcomed them. Australian High Commissioner Mr. Peter Heyward was also present on the occasion.
They said that all religions of the world give lesson of peace and brotherhood. Later, the delegation visited University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences where Secretary Livestock and Vice Chancellor of the University welcomed them. David Johnston said that we have come to Pakistan to further strengthen the friendship relations. Vice Chancellor of UVAS Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha gave briefing to the members of the delegation about the performance of the university. He said that university is providing best educational facilities to the students and also assisting the farmers for breeding animals and enhancing their production capacity.
He told that the students from abroad are also getting education in the UVAS and education of international standard is also being provided in five disciplines up to PHD. Dr. Hassan, Incharge of ASLP project started with the cooperation of Australian government gave briefing about this project.
Secretary Livestock and Dairy Development Muhammad Irfan Elahi informed the delegation that Punjab government is making efforts for the welfare of the farmers and intends to expand this programme throughout the province so that maximum people could benefit from it. Representatives of the farmers expressed their gratitude to the members of the Australian delegation and university management for starting ASLP.
