PPSC to uphold transparency in the process of recruitment :Rana Bhagwan Das

Lahore: Impartial and judicious selection in government departments can prove helpful in the development of the country. These views were expressed by Rana Bhagwan Das, Chairman Federal Public Service Commission while presiding over 13th meeting of Inter-Pubic Service Commissions held under the aegis of Punjab Public Service Commission. He stressed upon the heads of all Provincial Public Service Commissions . He said that all possible steps should be taken for modernizing the process of selection.

Chairman Punjab Public Service Commission Lt. Gen. ® Sabahat Hussain informed the members of the Public Service Commissions of other provinces about the steps taken by PPSC for making the selection transparent and improving its performance. He said that Punjab Public Service Commission received 3,10,333 applications during 2011 and the process of selection was completed through a transparent system. He informed that a total of 5643 candidates were selected and their names were sent to the concerned departments which are a record.

Secretary Punjab Public Service Commission Nayyer Iqbal informed the honorable members about the introduction of PPSC and its five years’ performance. Honorable members of other provinces appreciated the steps taken by PPSC for making the process of selection transparent and impartial.

While discussing the issue of computerizing domicile, Justice Rana Bhagwan Das said that efforts should be made for resolving this issue jointly with the concerned departments at provincial level and the assistance of the legal experts should also be sought. About introducing online system, he said that all resources should be utilized for this purpose so that modern facilities could be made available to the people and unnecessary burden lessened on the institutions. He further said that the verification of the disabled persons should be made through concerned medical board and other sources for making their selection transparent so that no one could point finger to the selection and the able and deserving persons could be selected.

Chairman Balochistan Public Service Commission Muhammad Ashraf Magsi, Members Federal Public Service Commission, Sindh, Azad Jamu and Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhawa and Higher Education Department attended the meeting. All members lauded the efforts of chairman and secretary PPSC for making best arrangements for the meeting. The meeting also decided that Khyber Pakhtunkhawa Public Service Commission will host the next meeting of Inter Public Service Commissions.
