Kaira gives answer to Nisar

Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira has said that Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali khan was trying to malign the PPP leadership to hide the Punjab government’s poor performance.

The Information Minister, in a statement, said that the opposition leader had even forgotten the political ethics to please his masters. He said that the PML-N government in Punjab had lost the support of the electorate because of its poor governance as exposed by its former chief minister Dost Muhammad Khosa. In frustration the opposition leader is using derogatory language, he added.
Kaira said that Nisar has tried to present himself as a reformer but the nation knows that a person groomed by Dictator General Ziaul Haq cannot become a democrat.

The minister said that Nisar levelled baseless corruption allegations against media persons, but when he was taken to task by the media organizations, he started maligning the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leadership. He said that if the opposition leader had any proof, he should make it public. Everybody knows that only secret agencies have equipment to record such conversation and Chaudhry Nisar should inform the nation that for which agency he is working for, which provided him such information, he added.

Kaira said that Chaudhry Nisar’s allegations of corruption and bribery against media community were totally baseless and his objective was to defame the media and the PPP leadership, but the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) would not achieve its goal. He said that the nation and the journalistic community know that the PPP has courage to tolerate criticism and never tried to muzzle any voice against it, rather media now enjoys complete freedom. The PPP is tolerating criticism with open mind but the remnants of dictators cannot bear such criticism, he added.

Kaira said that after 7th National Finance Commission Award, the Punjab government received a lot of funds but instead of spending them on the welfare of masses, it was misusing them for personal publicity through advertisement campaigns. In such circumstances, the allegations of doling out funds against the federal government were ludicrous as in fact it was the PML-N which was indulged in the advertisement campaigns. The nation, he added, knew that the character assassination of PPP leadership was done through a conspiracy while the weaknesses of the Punjab government were presented as its achievements.
