Commissioner Lahore takes serious notice of faulty sewerage system

Commissioner, Lahore Division, Jawad Rafique Malik, taking serious notice of faulty sewerage system, non-availability of drinking water and complaints against PHA in different areas of Nishter Town, has directed WASA and PHA authorities to review the situation and activate their staff in the areas of the said Town. The Commissioner issued these instructions while listening to the complaints of the Nishter Town residents at an open Kutchery at Nishter Town Office here today.

A total of 55 complaints were lodged to Commissioner which mostly related to faulty sewerage system, non-availability of water, installation of new tube-wells, cleanliness, cattle eviction, jobs and education department. The Commissioner expressed concern over the fact that most of the complaints pertained to WASA and PHA. He cautioned the WASA and PHA officers to make their officials deputed in different areas of the Nishter Town more active while a report in that context be submitted to Commissioner’s Office after the redressal of complaints.

The Commissioner taking action on the complaint lodged by a resident of Kot Mela Ram, Nishter Town area regarding the stagnant water in the graveyard and non-existence of boundary wall upon which he directed the Incharge graveyard, Nishter Town, to take effective measures for the construction of drainage of the boundary wall of the graveyard and the drainage of stagnant water immediately. Similarly, a resident of Township complained about the non-availability of fairprice shops and non-displaying of banners at Ramazan Bazars in Township. Upon which the Commissioner ordered TMO Nishter Town to set up fair price shops and display of banner at stalls in the Ramazan Bazars so that the consumers might easily purchase essential items of daily use.
