Lahore: Citizens violently protested in several cities of Punjab on Sunday against severe loadshedding.Enraged residents staged violent protest in several cities against long hours of power outages during holy month of Ramzan.
In Lahore, residents of Dharampura area staged a protest against electricity, gas and water loadshedding and shouted anti-govt slogans on a drum beat while the residents of Shahdara blocked the main road by burning tyres.
In Sheikhupura, protesters blocked Lahore-Faisalabad Road while the angry demonstrators in Tandliyanwala broke the windscreens of a police van.
In Jehlum, protesters blocked GT Road in protest against loadshedding during Sehar and Iftar timings. The protesters also attacked grid station.
In Multan, loadshedding-stricken porters blocked the roads by burning tyres. They also chanted slogans against government.
The residents of Pakpattan blocked the road at Chowk Jamal and protested against long hours’ unannounced loadshedding. Police baton charged the protesters and used tear gas and to disperse them while the demonstrators hurled bricks on the cops due to which four police officials received injuries.
