The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) issued show cause notices to seven officers after conducting a performance evaluation review upon completion of probation period after regularization. These officers included Deputy Directors, Emergency Officers and Public Relations Officers (PROs). The spokesperson for Rescue 1122 said that these officers were spreading disinformation about the top management of the Service to cover their unsatisfactory performance.
The Director General, Punjab Emergency Service said that unsatisfactory performance is certainly not acceptable in a life saving emergency service and top management of Rescue 1122 shall not be deterred by the disinformation being spread by these officers. The same officers were provided several opportunities and issued warnings to improve their performance, however, upon failure to improve their performance, the Service had to issue show cause notices since the quality of emergency service was being affected. It is extremely unfortunate that such officers do not realize that their negative activities affects the smooth provision of emergency humanitarian services to the public thus causing more harm to the general public than the committed top management of the Service.
