Lahore:In the wake of recent terror attacks, the police have been directed to remain on their toes across the Punjab province and the Field Officers are strictly asked to constitute special police teams in order to ensure round-the-clock patrolling in their respective areas. The officers of SP rank are directed to personally supervise the police patrolling in their jurisdiction.
This was stated by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman while presiding over a high-level meeting held at the Police Club Rawalpindi today. After Gujrat, the IGP visited Rawalpindi today to review security and law and order arrangements today.
RPO Rawalpindi Capt (retd) Zubair, CPO Azhar Hameed Khokhar, DPO Jhelum Dra Ali Khatak, DPO Attock Muhammad Hilal Khan, and DPO Chakwal Kashif Mushtaq Kanjoo were also present on this occasion.
The provincial police chief directed the officers to focus on preventive policing in order to thwart any possible act of terrorism in the future. The IGP stressed upon the police officers to ensure proper and effective armed patrolling around all government installations, important buildings, religious places, parks, public place, bazaars, and commercial markets. The police are also directed to step up armed patrolling around the police posts to keep a vigilant eye on the activities of the miscreants.
IGP Punjab Mohammad Habib-ur-Rehman also directed the police intensify snap-checking at the important points to check the movement of miscreants. However, the police are strictly directed to not to create trouble for the general public unnecessarily and behave politely with them during search or snap-checking. The police are also asked to get help from the local agencies and keep liaison with them.
The provincial police chief further said that apart from providing security to the VIPs security, there must be proper security arrangements during the movement of police force and around the police headquarters. The IGP also ordered the police to maintain the data about empty residences and rent-houses from all over the province.
