Export Processing Zone to be set-up in Islamabad

Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted a luncheon reception here in honour of newly-appointed Vice-Chairman by the Federal Government of the Export Processing Zones Authority .
Speaking at the largely attended reception, Zahid Iqbal said tenure as the Punjab Chief Minister of Senior Federal Minister Ch Parvez Elahi was a golden era of the province in the context of investment and development of industrial sector and Sunder, M-3, establishment of industrial estates in Multan, Kot Lakhpat Lahore, Gujrat and Attock are some of the achievements of that era.

He said that Ch Parvez Elahi as the Senior Federal Minister is taking revolutionary steps for establishment of new industries, revival and restoration of existing industries and boosting of foreign investment and increasing exports of the country.
He also assured that a special pavilion would be set up in the National Industrial Exhibition to be organized by the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry for display of products of the industries established in the Export Processing Zones.

During the discussion on the occasion between Zahid Iqbal and ICCI acting President Asad Farid and members of the Executive Committee, possibility of setting up of an Export Processing Zone in Islamabad and its benefits to the business community was discussed at length and it was agreed that both sides together would make concerted efforts in this regard. It was also decided that on return home of Senior Federal Minister for Industries and Defense Production Ch Parvez Elahi, a representative delegation would call on him and brief him regarding the recommendations in this respect.
