Cultural heritage of Pakistan is vercy rich:Secretary Culture

Lahore:Secretary Information and Culture Punjab, Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani has said that protection and conservation of the cultural heritage of Pakistan is the collective responsibility of the society.

He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of a 4-day workshop on safeguarding the intangible cultural heritage jointly arranged by Information and Culture Department Punjab and UNESCO, here today. Country Director UNESCO Dr. Kzo K. Nagata and Chief Resource Person of the Workshop Prof. Sajida Wandal also spoke on the occasion. Experts from all over the country are attending the workshop. Speakers while expressing their views, said that Pakistan is custodian of rich cultural heritage and traditions and different civilizations flourished in this region in various eras of history. They said that people of Pakistan should be proud of their cultural heritage. They also stressed the need for the conversation of cultural heritage including folk dances, music, handicrafts and dialects of various regions and transforming them to the next generation.

Director UNESCO thanked Punjab government for arranging the workshop. Prof. Sajida Wandal presented the key note address. Additional Secretary Information and Culture Punjab, Tahir Raza Hamdani presented souvenirs to Secretary Culture Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Innayat Ullah Chaudhary, Director General Lok Virsa Javed Iqbal and other delegates of the workshop.
