No Religious Functions at Streets, says CCPO

Lahore:Capital City Police Officer Muhammad Aslam Tareen has ordered conducting all religious congregations only within the precincts of four walls of homes, rather than holding them in streets and mohallas, in order to maintain religious harmony. CCPO further ordered Lahore Police to ensure comprehensive implementation of Amplifier Ordinance regarding use of loudspeakers, along with making the Peace Committees more effective and active. Muhammad Aslam Tareen announced holding of a grand meeting next week between members of the Peace Committee, high ranking officers of Lahore Police and Ulema belonging to various schools of thought.

He was talking to a 10-members delegation of Ahal-e-Hadees Itehad Counsel which called on him at Capital City Police Headquarters, Lahore under the leadership of Secretary General Ahal-e-Hadees Itehad Counsel Hafiz Khalid Shahzad Farooqi. The other members of the delegation inlucded: Molana Sheikh Naeem Badshah, Molana Shakeel-ur-Rehman Nasir, Molana Rana Nasrullah, Molana Zahid Hashmi Alzahri, Allama Molana Asghar Farooq, Mian Amir Bashir, Molana Hafiz Iman Ullah Madni, Rana Muhmmad Naeem and Molana Aziz-ur-Rehman Toheedi. CCPO Muhammad Aslam Tareen said that better coordination between police and Ulema can solve multiple security related problems. He said that Darbar Committees have been established in every areas of the city to make foolproof arrangement for protection of all shrines and Imam Barghas of Lahore. He said the committees have ensured that surveillance cameras are installed in all religious places, proper arrangement for late night lighting is made, whereas parking stands are set up well away from the Imambargah and Mazars. Muhammad Aslam Tareen directed Lahore Police to ensure propagation of comprehensive community policing and ordered all SPs to keep a close liaison with the notables and public representatives of the area for which regular meeting should be held. He said every citizen has to play its effective role in elimination of terrorism and maintenance of law and order in the provincial metropolis. Muhammad Aslam Tareen pointed out that protection of life and property of the citizens, in current situation, is a big policing challenge, and in this perspective, effective steps are being taken to ensure foolproof security at markets, hospitals, shrines and various mosques of the city.

The visiting delegation assured CCPO Muhammad Aslam Tareen of their wholehearted cooperation in elimination of terrorism and other heinous crimes in the city and to defeat the nefarious aims of those anti-social elements who want to create disturbance and chaos in the country.
