Lahore team wins kick-boxing competitions with 7 medals

Lahore : Director General Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar has expressed his satisfaction on the sports competitions of 72nd Punjab Games under way at various venues of the city on Thursday.

While addressing the prize distribution ceremony of special children Punjab Games cycling event at Nishtar Park Sports Complex (NPSC) Cycling Velodrome, Director General Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar appreciated the passion of special children in sports competitions. “The number of sports events for special children will be enhanced in the next edition of Punjab Games,” he added.

DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar distributed prizes among prominent performers and also had group photographs with special players.

Following are the results of competitions on the 2nd day of Punjab Games 2019:

Special Children events:

Girls 1000m (H.I): Asma (Lhr), Noorul Hina (Bwpr), Amber Niaz (Fsbd)

Boys (M.C) category: Jamshed (Bwlpr), Abdul Saboor (Fsbd), M Annas (Lhr)

Boys 1000m (H.I): Yasir Ali (Bwlpr), Ali Muneer (Gujrnwla), Ahmad Fazal (Fsbd)

Boys’ athletics at Punjab Stadium: 100m: Ali Ahmed (Shwl) 10.42, Osama (Fsbd), 10.44, Shahanshah (R.pindi) 10.52.

In table tennis event, Faisalabad Division defeated Lahore by 3-1 in team event at NPSC Gymnasium Hall.

Following are the positions:

Faisalabad (gold), Lahore (silver), Sahiwal (3rd bronze), Multan (4th bronze), Rawalpindi 5th, Sargodha 6th.

In karate, Rawalpindi, with 60 points, dominated the karate competition at Nishtar Park Sports Complex (NPSC) while Faisalabad and Gujranwala clinched next two spots with 40 and 22 points.

Sharjeel Butt of Lahore was declared winner in 55kg category in 72nd Punjab Games weightlifting competitions at NPSC parking area on Thursday. Gujranwala’s Haider Butt remained second and Abdul Raheem of Faisalabad finished third in this contest.

The title of 61kg category went to Lahore’s Muneeb while Gujranwala’s Saad Butt and M Aslam of Faisalabad got second and third positions respectively.

In 67kg weightlifting contest, M Arslan of Lahore took the first position while second and third positions were taken by Zeeshan Butt of Gujranwala and Faisal Shahbaz of Faisalabad respectively.

In archery competition, Lahore defeated Sargodha in the first semifinal whereas Faisalabad emerged winner against Bahawalpur in the second semifinal competition.

In kick-boxing, Lahore team stood first with four gold and two bronze medals, Gujranwala remained runners up with one gold and three bronze medals. Faisalabad finished third with three silver and one bronze medal. The remaining positions went to DG Khan, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Multan, Rawalpindi and Bahawalpur.

It may be noted here that Sports Board Punjab (SBP) is organising 72nd edition of Punjab Games with the collaboration of Punjab Olympic Association at various venues in the city from April 3 to 6, 2019.
