Police arrest the mobile phone thief who used a kid for security at shop

Lahore : Capital City Police has apprehended two culprits who were involved in child torture case. The Spokesperson said that Ahmed 9, was allegedly tortured by the police at police post Shershah, Chung police station, on Feb 18. Parents of the child accused ASI Saeed for torturing their son on behest of mobile phone sellers who claimed that the boy was involved in cell phones theft incident.

After the registration of FIR, all three accused Faisal Ashraf (Shopkeeper), Asad Lateef (Shopkeeper) and ASI Saeed Ahmed were immediately arrested.

However on directions of Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) B A Nasir SP Saddar Investigation Rashid Hadayat launched initial investigations which disclose that the accused Muhammad Zain and co-accused Mehboob alias Billa picked the boy and went to mobile shop located at Bhubatian market.

Muhammad Zain selected two costly cell phones and asked the shopkeepers that Ahmed would remain here as “guaranty” while he was going outside because his so called wife would finalize the choice of cell phones. But they did not come back .

It was disclosed by examining police record that Zain and Billa are absconders and many cases have been registered against Zain in different police stations in Lahore.

The Spokesperson further told that Investigation Police have recovered from place of offence i.e Chowki Sher Shah one heater and one heating rod and sent to PFSA for Forensic Analysis.

Investigation Police went to Jinnah Hospital to record statement of affected child but doctor didn’t allow the police to record statement, as per their opinion, child needs some time to get stable.

However the police continue its investigations. IMEIs of 2 Mobiles missing from shop were sent for tracking to locate the accused who took away the child to shop. This helped the police to reach out both culprits.

The police also got help from CCTV cameras of Safe City Authority. Zain was residing on rent at Mughalpura and in the past used many minors for conducting his criminal activities. Further Investigations were underway.
