Health Cards will be given to 6000 artists: Fayyaz Chohan

Lahore : Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan has said that provincial government is making all-out efforts for the welfare of artists and showcasing their hidden talent, under which, funds amounting to Rs. 10 million have been allocated for providing financial assistance to the deserving dab hands.

The Minister expressed these views while addressing a high-level meeting in connection with Health Insurance Cards and Voice of Punjab (VoP) at Alhamra Arts Council today which was attended by Secretary Information and Culture Momin Agha, Additional Secretary Aamir Aqeeq, Executive Director Punjab Arts Council Saman Rai, Executive Director Alhamra Ather Ali Khan and other Directors of all Arts Councils.

He said that Health Cards amounting to Rs. 400,000 would be issued to 6000 artists (expert in art fields) in the province on the basis of merit.

The Minister said that the condition of domicile for artists have been waived off for submission of Health Insurance Cards, now they would submit their farms without any attestation.

The Minister said the Voice of Punjab (VoP) would exhibit hidden talent of aspiring singers across the province. VoP headed by the Additional Secretary is fully patronized by provincial government, which is a unique of its kind which would bring about talent in singing from far-flung areas. He further said that 20 singers would be selected each from Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan and Rawalpindi and grand finale would be held in Lahore.

The Minister directed Additional Secretary that all programs of VoP are telecast by Radio and FM channels and Whatsapp number may be made viral. He also directed to finalize all the phases of VoP with the consultation of MD PTV.

Earlier, the Minister while addressing an annual sports day ceremony arranged by a private school, said that these sports activities should be conducted every year at school level so that this extracurricular activities may be promoted amongst the students.

He said that terrorist-activities during past two decades have played havoc with the economy and security. “We are peace loving people and love our neighbours too. It is good fortune for us that after long period of miseries, the people of the country have witnessed the pubic-friendly government of PTI under the leadership of Imran Khan”, added the Minister.
