PFA sealed Gourmet Ice Cream Units in 4 cities

Lahore : The Punjab Food Authority has removed as many as 34,368 litres hazardous ice cream and frozen desserts of Gourmet Foods, Chaman and Royal Kulfi, during a crackdown across the province.

The crackdown of provincial food regulatory body is being continued against failed products on the directions of PFA Director General retired Captain Muhammad Usman.

While the authority took initiative and started crackdown after confirming the presence of Coliforms, Fecal and Escherichia Coli bacteria in the 47 products over failure to meet the standards of regulations. Such products are unfit for human consummation and causes of vomiting, jaundice and other health diseases.

The authority confiscated 20,000 litres ice creams from Gourmet Foods, 13,042 litres from Chaman and 1,326 litres from Royal Kulfi. PFA also sealed Chaman production unit in Lahore while Gourmet’s Lahore, Sialkot, Faisalabad and Multan production units.

The production of failed brands will remain suspended till further orders. He further said that PFA will again collect samples for laboratory test after ensuring proper reforms.

Meanwhile ; today during the hearing of case ,Chief justice of Pakistan expressed displeasure upon GNN TV on negative propaganda against DG PFA Capt (R) Muhammad Usman and ordered to close all the production units of Gourmet Foods Ice Cream.

The CJP also showed anger upon Bureau Chief GNN Lahore Khalid Qayyum on approaching him for favour saying that how dare you to made a telephonic call late at night for favour and summoned Shaharyar Chattha and Zulqarnain Chattha . You people established a television network to protect business ,I will see how you run a campaign against a state officer , if I have to shut the channel ,I will shut it. Character assassination campaign was like contempt of court ,why not GNN be closed for a few days or permanently , he maintained .
