Supreme Court sentenced Senator Nehal Hashmi on contempt

Lahore : Supreme Court of Pakistan has sentenced one month prison and Rs 50 thousands fine on contempt.

The Court dismissed Senator Nehal Hashmi unconditional apology by one, two majority and announced verdict of punishment.

Mr justice Dosat Muhammad wrote his differences note but did not speak a single word when Mr justice Asif Saeed Khosa was announcing the decision.

Senator Nehal Hashmi has been arrested from the court premises and sent to Adyala jail. He also become disqualified for 5 years due to the decision and he has spend one more month prison in case he fails to pay the fine.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr Justice Saqib Nisar has termed the decision as per the law whereas PML-N central leader Talal Ch has said that it is a an unwelcome decision stating that politician could only be disqualified by the court of the people.

Senator Nehal Hashmi had made objectionable remarks on 28May 2017 while addressing a youm-e -takbeer ceremony in Karachi.
