Lahore : Secretary Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Najam Ahmad Shah has directed the concerned departments and the contractors to accelerate the construction and finishing work of the Surgical Tower of Mayo Hospital so that it would be completed according to the timeline and made functional by December 2017. Najam Ahmad Shah revealed that Surgical Tower would be a separate identity in healthcare system.
He directed that janitorial as well as security services of the tower should be outsourced. He also sought recommendations for outsourcing the radiological diagnostic services of the tower.
He issued these directions while visiting Surgical Tower Mayo Hospital on Monday. The Secretary also chaired a meeting to evaluate the progress on the completion work of the project.
Chief Executive Mayo Hospital Prof. Dr. Asad Aslam Khan, MS Dr. Tahir Khalil, Project Director Prof. Abrar Ashraf, representative of IDAP Mr. Naveed, officers from C&W Department, contractor, consultants of the Health Department Dr. Zahid Pervaiz, Dr. Haq Nawaz Bharwana and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
Project Director Abrar Ashraf gave briefing regarding the surgical tower construction and finishing work.
He was of the view that the work on the project is running fast and it is near to be completed. He said that medical equipment and machinery has been reached the process of installation is in progress.
He informed that by functioning of the tower, 385 beds would be included in Mayo Hospital and it would be a modern and state-of-the-art surgical tower.
He also informed that process of hiring of human resource is also continue, moreover, HVAC system, is in testing mod while CSSD and laundry is also in commissioning mod while boiler and other equipments have been installed.
Najam Ahmad Shah directed that day and night work must be continued to achieved the targets according to the timelines. He also directed the officers of PHA to immediately start landscaping and plantation on the open space in the Surgical Tower.
He said that Surgical Tower would not only an addition in Mayo Hospital’s facilities but it would be a complete hospital. He said that usually a hospital consists of 200 beds whereas the surgical tower has the capacity of 385 beds.
He directed that a system should be evolved to run the MRI machine and other radiological faculties round the clock.
Meanwhile, Secretary Health Najam Ahmad Shah also participated in the ceremony of balloting for Umra ticket arranged by the Allied Health Professional Association Mayo Hospital. Najam Ahmad Shah also announced to send an official for Umra on the expenses of Mayo Hospital Administration.
