The JI wants electoral reforms before the next elections : Liaqat Baloch

Lahore : Secretary General, Jamaat e Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has said that the ruling family had failed to offer their defense in the Panama leaks case and their objections to the JIT were only meant to obstruct the accountability process. He was talking to the media outside the Supreme Court on Tuesday.

The JI Secretary General appealed to the Supreme Court to decide the case against the ruling family at the earliest as the affairs of the government were being badly affected because of the case proceedings.

He said that Pakistan was facing numerous crises and the enemy was persistently attacking the borders. Pakistan’s enemies had ganged up to oppose the CPEC while the US, India and Israel wanted to destabilize the country. However, he said the Prime Minister, who also held the portfolio of the Foreign Ministry was not unable to attend to the foreign affairs because of the Panama case. Therefore, it was in the vital national interest that the case was decided without much delay.

Liaqat Baloch said that the ruling party in the centre should bring a new Leader of the house and added that the elections could be held only when the federal and the provincial governments dissolved the assemblies.

However, he said, that the JI wanted electoral reforms before the next elections .
