Lahore : Secretary General, Jamaat e Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has said that instead of raising hue and cry and creating political confusion, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should show his strength in the parliament and also expose the conspiracies against him. He was speaking at a workshop for political workers.
Liaqat Baloch said that from the very beginning, the JI had been stressing that the presence of the Prime Minister in his office during the Panama Papers investigation would be disastrous for the whole system. He said the ruling family and government officials had been giving threats to the JIT members. He said it was essential to protect the state institutions against the blind state power to ensure true accountability.
The JI Secretary General further said that the parliamentary democracy was the best form of government for Pakistan. He further said that if the constitution was implemented in its true spirit, the civil and military relations would improve. He said that any mechanism over and above the constitution was always dangerous for democracy as also the national unity and harmony.
Liaqat Baloch also called for immediate announcement of the census results and fresh delimitation of the constituencies of National and Provincial assemblies on their basis. At the same time, he said, the final recommendations of the Parliamentary committee for electoral reforms should also be presented in the National Assembly and the Senate to enable the political parties and electoral experts and analysts to give their view on these.
