Punjab govt to construct cardiology centre with Bolan Medical College

Lahore : An institute of cardiology would be constructed in Quetta Balochistan on a 25 acre piece of land adjacent to Bolan Medical College/Hospital at a cost of Rs. two billion. It would be a 100-bed health facility for cardiac patients.

In this connection Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafiq along with Secretary Health Najam Ahmed Shah and experts of Infrastructure Development Authority (IDAP) would visit Quetta in the last week of the current month.

It was decided in a meeting of Secretary Health Balochistan Asmat Ullah Kakar with Punjab Minister for Health Kh. Salman Rafique and Secretary Najam Ahmed Shah on Friday, at Civil Secretariat, today. Kh. Salman Rafique said that institute of cardiology Quetta would be a gift from the government and people of Punjab to their Balochi brethren.

The institution would provide latest treatment and procedural facilities to the cardiac patients at local level. Secretary Health Balochistan Asmat Ullah Kakar informed that Balochistan government has allocated 25 acre of land on the spiny road adjacent to Bolan Medical College.

Kh. Salman Rafique further said that after the visit, experts of IDAP would present their recommendations to the government of Punjab regarding design and other architectural matters of the proposed building of QIC.

The Minister further said that it is utmost our desire to start construction of the project so it could be completed as early as possible to ensure latest health facility to the cardiac patients of Balochistan.
