Secretary Health visit to govt Nawaz Sharif Hospital Yakki Gate

Lahore : Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Najam Ahmad Shah  paid a random visit to the government Nawaz Sharif Hospital Yakki Gate on Saturday morning.

The Secretary inspected pharmacy, emergency, laboratory, CMO Office, ICU,CSSD, Gasses room, Orthopedic Surgery wards and main stores.

Najam Ahmad Shah took serious note of the medicines kept in the pharmacy in a haphazard way and dumping in the cartons. He expressed displeasure on it and directed the medical superintendent Dr. Yasir Butt to submit record of the pharmacy. Najam Ahmad Shah also directed to take action against the absent pharmacists.

During the visit of laboratory he observed that nurses did not wear gloves during taking the blood samples of the patients. Secretary directed that instructions strictly be followed regarding the wearing of gloves by the doctors and nurses which is in their own interest to save them from any infection.

He also asked the patients in the wards regarding the availability of medical facilities including the free provision of medicines.

Najam Ahmad Shah visited Casualty Medical Officers room and found minor instruments were missing, he directed the MS to provide disposable tongue depressors, hammer and other related items.

The Secretary was surprised to know that seven ventilators are lying in the hospital and only one patient during the last five month has benefited from  this facility.

He asked the MS to find out the reason for under utilization of ventilators in Yakki gate hospital. Secretary Health stopped  the  janitorial  workers from cleaning the floor and said that it should be done as a  normal practice, not in front of me.

Najam Ahmad Shah also directed the MS to improve the cleanliness and hygiene conditions in the hospital.

The Secretary also visited centralized sterilization department.
