Belfast: Ireland downed Pakistan 3-2 in the second hockey test to go one up in the 3 match series.
First test had ended in a 2-2 draw.
Again, it was an entertaining battle at Lisnagarvey Hockey Club.
In the first test, Pakistan led twice only to see Ireland draw level each time.
Today, it was Ireland who took the lead each time. Pakistan equalised twice. First through an Aleem Bilal penalty stroke and then via an Umar Bhutta field goal.
But Ireland’s third goal scored by Shane O’Donoghue off a penalty corner with a few minutes left remained unanswered, and the hosts won 3-2.
In both the tests, the 13th ranked Green Shirts have matched the 9th ranked Green Machine in all the departments of play.
The two teams will face each other in the last test on Sunday.
