Secretary Health inquires after the patients at Children Hospital

Lahore : Secretary Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Punjab Najam Ahmed Shah visited extended block of Children Hospital Lahore on Saturday.

The Secretary visited isolation ward, liver disease ward, HDU, cardiology, operation theaters, ICU, haematology, laundry, CSSD and other departments of the hospital. Najam Ahmed Shah also inspected washrooms cleanliness condition.

Dean Institute of Child Health Prof. Dr. Masood Sadiq, Medical Director Prof. Dr. Ahsan Waheed Rathore and other senior officers and nursing officers also present on this occasion.

Prof. Rathore informed the Secretary that there were 450-bed in the Children Hospital, now another 600-bed have been included in the newly constructed block and soft launching has already been done.

Prof. Ahsan Waheed Rathore further said that in this state of the art hospital 16 operation theaters have also been constructed due to which operation/surgeries capacity has been increased three times.

He said that Children Hospital Lahore has become the largest children hospital in the world having 1050-bed capacity and providing treatment facilities of 23 medical and surgical specialties for children. He said that hundred percent free treatment facilities are being provided to the patients in the hospital.

On this occasion, Secretary Health Najam Ahmad Shah inquired after the health of patients. He also asked about the health facilities being provided in the hospital. Some of very serious patients are on ventilators for the last many months and their attendants told the Secretary that all the treatment facilities and medicines have been provided by the hospital’s administration free of cost.

Dean Children Hospital Prof. Masood Sadiq informed that approximately 20-25 thousand expenditure occurred per day on the ventilator.

While talking to the media, Najam Ahmed Shah said that 600-bed hospital is a full fledged hospital which has been included in the children hospital. He said that Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif carrying the mission to provide state of the art health facilities to the people and Children Hospital Lahore is a glorious example of his passion.

Secretary Specialized Healthcare Najam Ahmad Shah informed that hopefully, Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif would formally inaugurate the newly constructed extended block of the hospital before Ramadan.
