Punjab University takes action against 8 more students involved in March 21 clash

Lahore : The Punjab University administration on Friday took action against 8 more students involved in March 21 clash outside Institute of Education and Research in the second phase. According to PU spokesman Khuram Shahzad, the university has suspended 5 students and issued charge-sheet to them, seeking response in 7 days.

He said that the names of these five students had also been forwarded to police officials for initiating criminal proceedings in the case. He said these students include Institute of Education and Research’s Dawood Khan, Department of Gender Studies’ Alamgeer Khan, Institute of Business Administration’s Abdul Waris Khan and Department of Political Science’s Daulat Khan and Salman Shah.

Muhammad Bilal of Institute of Social and Cultural Studies was also issued charge sheet, he added.

Moreover, he stated, on violation of SoPs during the event, the administration also issued charge-sheet to Muzammil Khan and Najeeb Ullah, organizers of the event.

The spokesman said that the university administration had initiated disciplinary proceedings against the students involved in the incident indiscriminately without any pressure.

He said further that the administration would not adopt biased attitude towards any student. He said that the administration was taking action against students as per rules and regulations who had been identified on the basis of evidences.
