Rangers foiled another smuggling attempt of heroin

Lahore : Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) foiled yet another smuggling attempt of heroin.
On night 2 Apr 2017, a special piquet party was placed close to Border in Kasur.

Rangers troops observed suspicious movement, upon challenging, the individual opened fire and tried to run away from site. Rangers party chased the fleeing individual and killed the individual in exchange of fire. During search, 9 packets of heroin (approximately 9 kgs), one pistol, 8 x rounds and 2 x magazines were recovered.

The heroin was recovered at a distance of 300 meters from the international border and was in the process of being smuggled across. The individual was later identified as Muhammad Asgher alias Papu son of Muhammad Yousaf resident of village Shehjra, District Kasur, a notorious drug smuggler involved in smuggling in Pakistan and across the border. His dead body was handed over to his relatives by local police.

The recovered heroin has an approximate value of Rs 160 million in international market.
Director General Pakistan Rangers (Punjab), Major General Azhar Naveed Hayat appreciated the efforts of Rangers troops on their quick response to thwart the nefarious trade of smuggling and reiterated to use all resources to stop cross border illegal activities.
